Our Estimating Director retires after 17 years at Morecrofts

It’s with mixed emotions that we announce that John Smith (pictured centre), our Estimating Director, has retired after a long and rewarding 17 years at Morecrofts.

John joined us in 2007, having previously worked with Jared, our MD and Nick, our Operations Director for 10 years at Mitchell & Hewitt Ltd. He is a time-served qualified engineer and formidable in terms of tendering experience and ability.

John’s technical expertise, leadership skills, market awareness, and a commitment to delivering accurate and competitive estimates has been second-to-none. He has played a key role in helping the business to grow from a turnover of £500k a year to today’s £15 million.

Below are some of the jobs John successfully tendered in the last few years.

Speaking about John’s retirement, MD, Jared Mitchell commented:

“John has been a brilliant estimator, employee and loyal friend to us for nearly 30 years. Whilst it’s sad to see him retire from full time employment, we are really happy that John can now take it a bit easier and enjoy his time with Linda, his girls and new granddaughter. We wish him all the very best for the future!

“But John won’t be completely disappearing and will continue to support the business. He passes the torch to our Associate Directors, Anthony Matthews (Estimating) and Jordan Robinson (Pre – Con). They are going to miss his worldly advice and lessons in history, but I have no doubt that they’ll take Morecrofts from strength to strength.

“I’m sure we’ll be sharing a few beers with John on a regular basis as well!”
